Our tour guide took us to a Bun Cha restaurant for lunch. Bun Cha is a little bowl of broth with grilled meatballs and pork in it. You then dip in some cold noodles and fresh herbs from the communal bowl, while a scooter drives right through the restaurant to the parking lot in the back room.
I'd like to take this opportunity to beef a bit about our travel agent - "Vietnam Paradise Travel". Don't ever use them! They screwed up our visas, didn't tell us we would need passport photos, over charged us for everything, got us lousy tickets at the Water Puppet Show (so I paid a whole 2 bucks and bought my own front row seats), got us lousy tickets on the train, gave us a driver who didn't speak english, etc etc etc. My advice to you is to just don't use a travel agent at all for Vietnam. All the tours can be booked from your hotel (for half the price). And by the way, a top notch small hotel should probably cost no more than $25 USD.
