Motorbikes filled the road out the window of our hotel in Hanoi, for hours on end. Our tour guide told us that there are 3 million people in Hanoi, and 2 million motorbikes. I find that a little hard to believe thought - look closely and you will see that almost every motorbike has 2 or 3 people on it. I guess 1 million motorbikes might be in the shop at any given time as well.

At first the number of motorbikes was daunting - they never stop. Crossing the street requires just walking slowly and steadily, and just letting the river of traffic flow around you. At night, instead of going to night clubs, all the kids just ride around in circles. It's a hoot.
