I went biking this last weekend with my old pal Jeff Thoman and his son max. Check out Jeff catching some air on the BMX track up near Bukit Timah where he lives. Posted by Picasa

I tried catching some air too Posted by Picasa

Then I ate some dirt. Posted by Picasa

One of the several footbridges I pass on the way to work. This one has a guy doing sit-ups on it.  Posted by Picasa

Run down bike I see every day on the way to work. Posted by Picasa

If I ride to work really early, the wet market on Henderson Road is just waking up, with fish mongers laying out their fish. Posted by Picasa

The standard "take away" cup. If you want your drink to go, you must ask for "Take Away", and everyone uses these little plastic bags with green plastic string on top. It's actually quite easy to carry it around and drink from the straw - even when riding a bike. Posted by Picasa

One of the many funny signs that you see around Singapore. There are a number of funny public service announcements. One instructs people not to shake the water from their hands onto the floor after washing them in a public toilet. I think that providing paper towels or functional hand dryers would lead to better success. What ARE you supposed to do with wet hands? I guess that's what your pants are for. Posted by Picasa

These run down abandoned houses are just across the street from our condo. I see them from our window. as well. Posted by Picasa

One of the HDB flats that I go by every day on my way to work. I like how the pattern is only broken by one family that has red lanterns in front of their door... Posted by Picasa

The restroom at work. Not the best placement of facilities. Could you imagine using one of those corner ones, and having somebody buddy up next to you? Posted by Picasa

We went with Zhanar's mama to Chijmes (church and school turned night-club restaurant gala) and it rained pretty hard. We took shelter in the church where a wedding rehearsal was going on. Mama's not shy - she walked right in. Posted by Picasa

They have a tube under the road near the Esplanade that feels very futura-parisian. Posted by Picasa

On Christmas day we took a "River Taxi". They're not taxis at all any more, but they're nice for tourists. Posted by Picasa

Kuka shows off Aunt Margie's "Handbook".  Posted by Picasa

Zouk is a big nightclub near our house, and it has an interesting display that you can see from a riverboat. Posted by Picasa

Our little family across from downtown at the Esplanade Posted by Picasa

Bill got tired on Christmas eve and almost fell asleep before the Christmas log. So did Mama and Kuka. But Zhanar, bless her heart, was on a quest for a nice Christmas dinner. And by golly we were going to enjoy that log. And we did.  Posted by Picasa

For Christmas dinner we followed the british tradition of having christmas crackers and a Christmas Log. It's really just a giant Ho-Ho with a bunch of plastic chachki on top. Posted by Picasa

We had a nice Christmas dinner. Dina wore her Asian style outfit courtesy of Rumi.  Posted by Picasa

Singaporeans are generally pretty shy. However most reluctantly (and happily) gave in to some arm twisting to play twister. One un-named person sat out becaus she was feeling "a little fartsy". Posted by Picasa

On Dec 23rd we went to a BBQ at William & Judy's condo, and someone brought sparklers. In this one, Kuka made a squiggle that almost says "love" in the middle. Posted by Picasa

Snowman is miserable. Can you blame him, he lost an arm and an eye, and he didn't even have the insurance plan, which has a specific clause for loss of one hand and one eye, and pays 100%. Posted by Picasa

Mama and Kuka got into it at the petting pool Of course, I got yelled at for pulling on the sand shark tail. Can't I ever go somewhere without getting in trouble? Posted by Picasa

Jellyfish. I thought they might make a nice background for my computer. Posted by Picasa
